Awer Women Empowerment stands up for the rights of indigenous women in Kenya who have experienced violence, be they victims of human trafficking, sexual exploitation and prostitution, forced marriage or other violence. We offer psychosocial care, organize medical or legal support, help in finding housing and jobs and vocational training.
It is an organisation for and by the Awer indigenous women. The organization was founded by the indigenous Awer women, a feminist organization that fights for the rights of Awer indigenous women with respect to violence prevention and eradication, Indigenous Women’s Rights, Economic Empowerment and justice, Environmental conservation and protection.
Our Objectives
To fight for the rights of indigenous women of Awer community
To establish sustainable economic development activities that promotes the cultural activities of Awer indigenous tribe to create employment opportunities and increase level of income to vulnerable women.
To prevent and eradicate violence and all forms of discrimination and marginalization of indigenous women.
Ensure environmental conservation and protection of natural resources for preservation of Awer community culture.
